Photographs: Rupert Methodist Church

Besides my professional photography, I have a weakness for photographing sacred spaces. Yesterday we went to Rupert Methodist Church, where she was playing piano for the morning. Rupert Methodist is one of my favorite churches in the area, and I had my camera with me, so….

The sanctuary. The hardwood walls and ceilings make for amazing acoustics. The chairs are unique, like theater chairs with numbers on them. No one can remember a time they had pews (and there are some elderly people there who have worshiped there all their lives).

Yes, that’s a pipe organ. And in case you can’t get enough of pipe organs, you can walk 5 minutes down the road and visit the Congregationalist church and listen to another one. How a town the size of Rupert got two pipe organs is a wonderful mystery.

Looking from the sanctuary into the room where the choir warms up, and where after services they serve coffee and fresh baked goodies while they talk and catch up with each other. It’s a very warm place to visit.

The altar table.

As always, you can click on the images for a larger version.
