Painting Badly

This is not the first
time you have begun
this painting. No.

You have failed repeatedly
in perspective or color, failed
to see properly.

And it is,
after all,
all in the seeing.

One of the things I have learned about photography and art over the past few years is that while you have to know something about tools and technique, the real art is in the seeing.

More and more, I have also come to realize that the same is true of life.
