is changed.

Hidden in all the news yesterday was a brief article about the discovery of a new Carl Sandberg poem. From there I thought about the phrases that change our lives: “I love you.” “You have cancer.” “It’s a boy (or girl)”. “I want a divorce.”” I believe.” “I trust you.” and how it’s not the long treatises but the short phrases, that change our world.
The photograph is not mine. It is called “Rotting Books” and is by Ian Creitz and is currently on display at the Southern Vermont Arts Center.
