A few months ago, a friend of mine had this wonderful idea that she put out on Facebook. The first five people who checked in with her would get a creative gift. We would not know what the gift would be, or when it might arrive, but at some point, those of us who quickly “threw our name in the pot” would find a gift in our mail.
I so loved the idea that I made the same offer to MY friends and within an hour five people had signed up. Well, actually six, because one, after being one of the first, offered to let me give her gift to someone else. Rather than do that, I decided to give six creative gifts.
I got every one’s address and began to think about what to give? Photographs? Drawings? A poem perhaps? Or a painting?
I decided on a painting, one for each of my friends, but something that might, in some way tie them together, even though they don’t really know each other. So I created these six small painting cards.
Each painting has the same number of brush strokes, in the same colors, yet each is distinctly different, just as my friends are distinctly different.
So now each of them have a small painting (or have one that is on the way), that not only links them in a small way to me, but also links them to new people all over the world!
