Decision
Worship is silent this morning.
There is no sanctuary to still your soul,
no choir to lift your heart.
There is no sermon.
There is only this moment,
alone with God,
and the decision to open your heart
to love,
or flee.
About this poem
I am in Virginia this morning, taking my daughter back to college and there will be no church for me today, something I will miss greatly. The temptation, at least for me, is to just go with the flow and not think much about it. But I find worship is important to me, and so I take time for bible reading and prayer most days. Not because it’s a rule, but because of what it does for me, greedy, needy human that I am.
I think, the older I get, that life is often about our search for, and fear of, love. A desire to feel safe enough to make ourselves vulnerable, and fear of that vulnerability always wrestles inside us.
And somewhere, from those two thoughts…. this poem.
Have a blessed Sunday, where ever you are.
Tom

And blessings on your and yours…a
