I Breathe You In.
I breathe you in,
silent in the early morning, afraid
to wake you, breathing
in your perfume, so faint, so
vibrant in memories,
subtle as phlox at dusk
and more sweet.
i breathe you in,
the invisible energy that surrounds you,
powered by an intimacy
deeper than skin, deeper
that whispers in the night, deeper
than words. your breath,
deep and soft in the dawn
is like music.
I breathe you in.
About this poem
This is one of those poems that was inspired by a picture, instead of my having to go seeking a picture to fit my words. It was a night of no sleep, inexplicable insomnia and to say I am dragging is an understatement. No, I am more like some one who tried out for the role of a zombie, and was rejected for looking too dead.
So I wandered through my pictures and this one grabbed my eye. I took it earlier this summer at the Washington County Antique Fair, and just looked at it, letting it sink in and waited for the words to come. And…. here they are.
