Between the Noise
They are everywhere,
a constant barrage,
unrelenting,
day,
night,
everywhere,
all wanting…..
not you.
You do not matter,
unless you have the courage
to insist on it,
to stop,
to close the door,
bar the windows,
and stop,
to find the silence,
and in it,
yourself.
About the Poem.
I was in Time Square last week. An amazing place, and the barrage of signage is almost otherworldly. But it’s the same way in life. TV. Radio. The internet. Signs on buses, signs on the road. Signs everywhere.
It was stimulating. I loved my day. Just as I love my internet, my TV, my radio (particularly my radio). But at times, I have to turn it off. And listen to myself. And listen to God. Because neither is found in the noise. They are found in the silence between the noise.
