Poem: A Personal Starvation

Dorset Inn 7

A Personal Starvation

Why then do you starve
when the tables are before you,
when servers await your command,
when lovers and Gods hang on your every need?

What twist of mind holds you back,
leaves you in fear,
causes you to rail like a madman
when still waters lay so close?

What blindness plagues you,
biblical in scope, yet new,
wholly yours, an intimate desert created
in the midst of green pastures….

About this poem.

So much of what we want in life, we get in the way of.  I’ll never understand why, only that it is.

The picture was taken at The Dorset Inn, in Dorset, Vermont.
