The Trick
The trick you see
is to stop,
even when the world is rushing,
to focus the heart
on that one thing,
in that one moment
and bring it into focus
while the world rushes by
in a frenetic blur,
to see, really see,
the one we love
more than the things that flash by
and never see us,
to find an anchor,
a safe port
in a raging sea.
About this poem
The world is wild. It moves too fast. There is too much going on. Too much to take in. Too much to absorb. Which is why, more than ever, the ability to live in the moment, love in the moment, and really BE when we are with someone, is that much more important.
Otherwise, all is lost. In the blur.
The picture was taken from a train window in upstate New York.
