Poem: The Secret City

Dark City 1_resize

The Secret City

The sun falls, casting shadows,
long and dark,
a shadow city,
a place of secrets,
of joys and sins,
love and courage,
a dark place of fear
that your deepest secrets, your truest self
is exposed

and like a child, dismissed,
tossed aside, ignored,
until you become your own enemy,
hidden in the secret city,
lurking in rafters, a phantom
unsure whether it is predator
or prey.

About this poem.

We keep our secrets.  Not all of them are even bad, dark secrets. But we keep our secrets and they eat us from inside.
