The God of Second Chances
Early in the morning and the sun breaks
through the fog for the first time,
revealing beauty. Revealing color
and unleashing it like a siren song
a landscape new and promising,
a second chance
after the long dark night.
Suddenly your steps are no longer uncertain,
a dance to the sun,
to the God of second chances
who you worship,
even, or perhaps particularly
in the night.
About this poem
Thank goodness we can fail and rise again. Thank goodness we get second chances in our careers, in our lives, in love. Thank goodness it is never over.
