Poem: Negotiating Weather

Navigating Weather

Today the heat is unbearable
and everything is dry and barren.

Tonight it will rain,
a drowning storm that swallows
everything in it’s path,
angry with lightening directed
with pinpoint precision.

Tomorrow, snow.

There is no preparing, for
the weatherman lies,
in love with
your constant dance
to catch up
with the dark changes,
to see you
unprepared and wounded,

unaware
that with each day of pain
you grow stronger,
impervious to weather,
that each day you build
a shelter that makes the madness outside
history.

About this poem

There’s a lot of change in the weather this week. Spring like. Rain. Possible snow this weekend. Craziness.

Kinda like life.
