The North Sea
You stand on the shore
and look across the water,
to that fine, thin line between sea and sky.
It is peaceful now,
the morning after the storm,
the morning before the storm,
a waystation, more precious
for the wrath of weather behind and before you,
a time of rest and dreaming,
a time to ponder the horizon,
that thin line that never ends
and prepare yourself for the journey.
About this poem
There is always something beyond, to explore, to reach for, to grow into.
The picture was taken outside Amsterdam, on the North Sea. It’s simple, but one of my favorites. You can click on it for a larger version.
