It’s Art, They Say

It’s art they say
and indeed it is,
a recreation, a rearranging
of life
into colors and lines
that jar you into awareness,
knowing it is less important
to be beautiful
that to wake the heart and mind
from it’s slumber,

About this poem

Some art matches the couch. Some art draws something from us and makes us partners in creation. Both are art, but I prefer the collaboration.

The picture was taken at the Cocohran in Washington, DC. I forgot to shoot the plaque with the name of the work and artist. but I’ll go back someday and get it. It sang to me.
