Poem: A Box Full of Pain

chocolait box

A Box Full of Pain

In my heart, there are quiet pains
that I carefully put away
in a golden box,
not to hide them or deny them,
but to give them a place
where I can take them out
only when I am strong enough to bear them.

About this poem

Sometimes we let pain go. Other times we hoard it.

The picture, by the way, is of the chocolate box. It sits on my kitchen counter. My household has always had a chocolate box, full and ready to soothe the taste buds and the soul.
