City of Fire
This is what happens
when you take a picture
from the window of a train
late at night.
There is no stillness
and the city that seemed so peaceful
in the dark
exposes the truth,
that it is a city on fire,
that each window hides passions,
love, hate, greed, passion, faith,
flaming invisibly
until they are caught in the act.
About this poem
By now regular readers know one of my themes in life is that everyone has a story, if we only pause to listen. It is something I am reminded of often as I meet people in the course of a day.
The picture was taken from New York City, looking over at New Jersey while on the way home from a couple days work. It’s worth clicking on to get the large, full effect.
