Poem: Not Quite Dead

light and dark

Not Quite Dead

Once I was sure I would die
in a sea of dark,
that I would drown there,
but as I am still here,
clearly I did not.

You came and pulled me from the sea,
and breathed life back into my almost corpse,
a wild, unpredictable kind of life,
the stuff of legends and youth,
born of your life giving fire
and soft, healing touch.
