Bourbon Music
Bourbon music on the radio,
raspy, smoky,
The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,
subtle and sad, southern harmonies and slow guitars,
your heart thirty years younger,
less broken, less full, less journeyed,
eyes closed, innocence remembered,
a small smile only the old would recognize
of a youth well lived, full of detours and mad errors
you would never repeat,
but will never regret.
You dance.
About this poem.
I may be the only one putting up Christmas decorations tonight with Little Feat, Allman Brothers and David Bromberg on the radio. Â Young again for a night.
Tom
I could visualize what you wrote, Tom, it cheered me up 🙂 Thanks and keep on younger this magical month 🙂
I am pretty sure I am older than you, but this brought good memories & made me smile!! Thanks. Mary Ann
I am 60, Mary Ann, but good music is good music. Be well.
