Poem: Let Me

horse 1.jpg

Let me

Let me
stumble,

struggle,
flounder, flail, fail,
sigh,
even cry out
in unmanly frustration.

Let me find the words as badly as I can
but at least
let them be
mine,
let them be true,

so that once found,
they will carry the strength
of the struggle.
a foundation
we can stand on.
forever.

About this poem.

I am not always the easiest person to talk to, particularly about feelings, as I search for the right words (which come harder than you can imagine.) to say what I want. As I build context and think out loud, even  argue with myself out loud. Often, I wander until I find them. My hope is, once I do, they are worth the wait.

I am particularly grateful to the woman I love, and her patience with me. Just one of the reasons I love her.
