Poem: Floodwaters

floodwaters

Floodwaters

Even when you see it coming,
it surprises you,
that slow rise that inch by inch
overwhelms you,
leaves you stranded in strange waters,
suddenly unsure
if the waters are rising, sustaining
or falling.

About this poem.

We had some serious rain and flooding in these parts last week. And it left me thinking about emotions, about depression, about love, and at times.. about faith.

You can pick which one you want the poem to be about. Whatever you choose, you’re right.
