The Importance of Destruction

Use the hammer.
Use a crowbar.
Tear open the window.
Rip out the boards that have closed you in so long.
Use violence.
Use gusto and joy and anger and madness and glee.
Use whatever it takes.

Break the glass.
Shatter the stuff.
It is time to leave the dark,
to let the sun shine in
and you shine out.

About this poem

I almost called this poem “New Year’s Resolution.”.

Isolation is the enemy. Always.
