Poem: The Most Dangerous Organ

The Most Dangerous Organ

Somehow, you feel like you are looking at a twin,
this headless Greek statue, posed so casually,
your own mind missing, at least in the morning, you are left
with only your heart to guide you.

This is a dangerous thing, you have learned.
your heart is both the best and most dangerous organ,
able to see the truest truths, but at times,
spectacularly wrong.

About this poem

I love this statue, a Greek sculpture that lives in the Hyde Museum in Glens Falls, NY. Some days he is my brother.
