Poem: Everywhere, Books

Everywhere, Books

There are books everywhere,
for this is how you have learned the world,
in pages of print and pictures,
often better from fiction and poetry
than history and science,
books that map the heart more
than the trappings
that cover, protect and break it.

There are books everywhere,
each one a new window,
a new landscape to travel,
your plastic brain shapeshifting with each new page,
your view of the world more kaleidoscope than concrete
as you learn with each new tome
just how little you know.

There are books everywhere.

About this poem

A minor poem. But true nonetheless.
