Poem: Anew

save yourself.JPG

Anew

You have held your pain like a precious gift,
a thing too rare to share,
holding it close and swaddled,
desperate to make your way home,
pushing aside all else in the name of safety and sanity,
until you had little of each.

It is time to begin anew.
To wrest your mind and heart back from it’s prison.
Yours is not the only pain in this house.
And gifts are made to be shared,
time to remember, not all horizons
are yours alone.

About this poem

I have been too inwardly focused the past few weeks. I understand the whys, but it’s time to break loose from the power of pain and fear, and move forward again. To look outward more than inward. That is how love is built, and rebuilt.
