Poem: Faith on the Seven Seas

Sails 2

Faith on the Seven Seas

Slowly, the sails unfurl.
Slowly, they fill with the west wind.
My gray hair ruffles

as I pull the anchor up from the mud,
having learned
the most important lesson of all,

that I do not need a destination
to travel, and yet somehow,
I will arrive.

About this poem

A poem about faith, and about a hard-won lesson.

The picture was taken at Mystic Seaport in CT.
