Poem: Early in the Studio

Early in the Studio

Early in the morning as you trudge up the stairs
to the studio. The light plays on the corners,
not yet bright, not yet ready for work.

But yet, here you are. Come early to begin
to push the demons aside or capture them,
one or the other, set them aside

for display, an exhibitionist of pain and confusion,
petrifying it in color, freeing yourself in the process,
so when you leave, you leave dancing.
