Poem: You Cannot Explain

You Cannot Explain

Soft sky. A vignette of a place that is not here,
a time that is not now, somehow resonating,
calling to you, a memory you can not possibly have,
that lingers, moves you almost to tears.

You cannot explain. That is what you have learned.
Your emotions live in a netherworld,
at times sensible, at times like Dali on a two day drunk,
and you? You take what you get and make it art

before it swallows you alive.

About this poem

The picture was taken in nearby Dorset, VT.

Salvador Dali is one of my favorite artists, along with Edward Hopper, Rembrandt, Titian and Bottecelli. I am a little eclectic.

Emotions often overwhelm me. I push through anyway.

From all that, this poem.
