Your Way
A place. A time. To work.
Nothing complicated.
Space. Light. Time
and a bit of will. enough
to overcome the inertia
of other people’s expectations
and play, experiment, try
something new, or new enough
it touches not just someone else’s heart
but your own.
About this poem
People have lots of ideas of things I could do in my writing and my art to make more money. Some of them are probably true and good ideas. The problem is me. I have this need to express and at times, clever sales things and my heart are not in sync.
Is that good? Is it hard-headed? I have no idea. Fortunately, I still manage to touch enough people to sell books and art enough. I am blessed. And best of all, I am that rarest of things, happy.
The picture was taken at the Hancock Shaker Village. One of my favorite places to visit and photograph.
