The God of Mistakes
You cannot remember when you took the photograph.
A long time ago, that is certain, when cameras used film
and you could easily make the kind of mistake
that now and again turned into art,
a greek statue in bad light, cream colored
with the veil of a second exposure as counterpoint.
A strangely beautiful mistake, best claimed rather than admitted.
But you are not made of such wise stuff.
You are content to give the God of Mistakes,
the one who loves us despite, his due
in undoing your best efforts
to fail.
About this poem.
The Christian God I worship is a God of grace. giving me (and all of us) not what we deserve, but more. Thank goodness.
And yes, the picture really was a mistake. I could not have done it if I tried.

It’s quite lovely. Obviously it was meant to happen.
