Still Life Needs
Your eyes need this.
A still life in the ordinary.
A simple view of a simple pitcher,
a flower, a bit of light and dark,
striking enough to draw your focus
and hold it.
Your soul needs this, Your heart.
Something simple, beautiful,
unexpected and tactile,
a remembrance of what was,
and a promise, all in an image
that had no idea what it evoked.
About this poem.
I am something of a minimalist. I like my life, my faith, my love…. simple. Half of it is my nature. Half of it is trauma response. But whatever the reason, it is what I am, what I crave, and why I love and photograph so many simple things.
