Soft Dark Horizons
It has been raining for two days,
with the right mix of snow
to create soft horizons,
faint, foggy distances,
beautiful and sometimes a little disturbing.
But likely only to you,
you who has watched too many B movies
where the hoards come out of the fog,
marauders in wild animal armor and swords,
battle cries out of the murky distance,
suddenly almost upon you.
At times, it does not help having an imagination
scarred by bad movies and a few too many
blindsidings that left you dazed
and wondering how you were so blind,
even if you were not blind at all,
merely living in a fog where truth
is well hidden.
So you pass the field. See the fog
through a windshield pocked with raindrops,
Caught between unease and the acknowledgement
of beauty.
About this poem.
I really did watch too many B movies as a kid. And I really do have a pretty big blind side. The picture was taken just down the road.
