Poem: Time Does Not Matter (2)

Time Does Not Matter (2)

You never believed it,
so I have no expectations
that you would believe it now.
But sitting across the table
after all these years,
as you flash me a smile
and your eyes narrow and glisten,
my heart leaps.
Time goes backwards
and we are both young again.

It happens often
and that is what has taught me
time does not matter.
Only love does.

About this poem

A love poem of course. Love poems are the only poems about one thing. There is no room for anything else.
