Poem: Theivery Surrounds Us.

Theivery Surounds Us

Life.
Work.
Fate.
Relationships.
The rise and fall and rise again of love.
8,000 ads a day pummeling.
Lies. Politics.
The internet and the advent of doom scrolling.
history and its trauma.
Wounds. And false healers.
fear and the walls we build.
Did I mention fear?

All conspire, like thieves in the night,
to rob us of simplicity
and the life it brings.

About this poem

I have spent much of my life striving for simplicity. The world has other ideas.

The sign in the picture is one I have had hanging in all of my offices for three decades. Evidently, I need the reminder.
