Poem: The Testimony of Rust

The Testimony of Rust

Rust attests to the storms survived
long after the roof caved in,
long after the abandonment for newer spaces
to do the same work, something glitzier
full of promises the old plant did not offer
as obviously. And yet now, a generation later
the old plant survives, a piece of art in its persistence,
a wonderment to both of you, half art, half miracle
suddenly revealed. Suddenly appreciated
years after the storm, rust attests.

About this poem.

Sometimes, most times, I am amazed I am still here, and in a place I never expected to be. Life is good.
