Poem: Beautiful Scars

Beautiful Scars

Here is what you do not know,
what you cannot believe,
that the scars you hide so diligently and well

behind your beautifully crafted doors
are beautiful to me,
each one a gift of art,

a painting of your survival
and transcendence,, of God’s grace
in bringing you

to me.

About this poem

There is nothing more intimate than sharing our scars. When we share our scars, we share our souls. And they become beautiful.

The picture is from the garden of the woman I love.

    • Ruth – thank you for sharing that with me, about your husband. We men sometimes get a bad rap about feelings. We have them, but it’s work for us to let them out sometimes. If he can be that free with you, he must feel safe with you, and that’s such a fine thing.
