Love with Strangers
\It has not been so long
that you do not remember
the strangeness of love with a stranger,
the test of your courage,
the allowing hope when what you feel
is fear,
unsure if you are facing vixen or viper,
whether the madness you feel
is indeed mad,
or the most sane thing
you have ever experienced.
About this poem
I have carried around this picture for a year. It was taken at an antique fair in Greenwich, NY and the oddness of a tiny baby doll looking, well… so disturbing – I knew there was a poem in it. This morning….. it came to me.

I love this poem. It takes courage to love someone you do not know well…although, loving someone you think you know well has its own type of courage as well.
I think, in the beginning especially, It is always courageous to love. Always.
Separated by chasms
of experience
Endless seas of skin
If ever we chance to love
All we love are
strangers
Exactly!
