Birthday Poem
Let the years come.
More importantly, let them go.
Let their seeds blow in the wind
like summer flowers.
You cannot know where they will land,
what blossoms and fruit they may bear,
or what gardens you may be creating
unaware.
About this poem
I often tell my congregation that more often than not I am preaching to myself, to my own needs and failings and aspirations. And at the same time, hoping somehow that because we are more alike than different, I can also touch someone else.
The same is true of my poetry. I am 59 today. Let the years come. Let the years go.

…..because the best is yet to come, Tom! 🙂
Happy Birthday Tom, you are an inspiration for many ! Thanks and hope you have a splendid day.
Thank you Rock! I hope all is well with you down south.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, TODAY is a GIFT of GOD, which is why we call it the present!
Happy Birthday “Present,” Tom, on the celebration of the day you entered the world! I’m glad you’re in the world at the same time I am.
Dear Tom:
Happy birthday, let the years come, let them go. How beautifully lyrical. I hope your day was filled with wonder and joy.
