Poem: Sunrise at Night

Beach

Sunrise at Night

And when we are old
we will walk along the beach,
feel the sand between our toes
and smell the salt air.

We will see the morning sun,
a warming light, and feel it on our backs.
We will hear the waves
and let their sounds fill our ears

and once again the world will be ours,
not a place of memories
as much as a place of promise
and anticipation.

About this poem

A love poem for the future.

I have a different view of old age than many, because most of the people in my family had a vibrant set of sunset years. I hope I’m right.
