Poem: Time and Beauty

coastal-rocks

Time and Beauty

Perhaps you think it has been too long
for me to stare at you so,
for me to linger on the coastal sun in your hair,
and the glisten in your eyes.

Perhaps you believe age and years
should have banked the fire,
and certainly how, and how long
I simply look at you, a schoolboy smile
on my face.

But I was raised differently, taught that time
only distills and enhances,
brings out what has always been there
and makes its truth even truer,

and so, the longer I know you,
the more of your beauty I see.

About this poem

Because another love poem just seemed in order.
