Poem: Why I Write Poetry

Why I Write Poetry

It is the precision I like,
fine threads creating just what I see,
an embroidery of words,
the careful craft of putting in
and pulling out, leaving just enough,
the essence, a perfect picture.

It is the vagueness I like,
where the things left out
are more important than the things said,
forcing the reader
to fill in the blanks,
making the story their own.

About this poem.

I knew I wanted to write this poem the second I snapped this picture. It all came together at once.
