Rusty.
Still strong.

You made the mistake
everyone makes.

Thinking them a prison
when instead they are a launching off place

to find strength and compassion
a barless world

would find impossible.

About this poem

Here is what I have learned in a life where few things have gone smoothly. My compassion is stronger. My soul is stronger. My love is stronger.

If everything in life is a tradeoff, as I believe. I’ll take it.
