Poem: Pulling Up Anchor

Pulling Up Anchor

The thing is, you pull up anchor
and you are free.

Free to travel, and rarely
where you think you are going

for winds and fates are fickle.
God loves a mystery,

and success has less to do with mastery
than the ability to travel with Surprise at your side,

a chuckling copilot.

About this poem

Pretty much everyone I ever interviewed with asked me where I thought would be in five years.

I was never right. But it was fun pretending.

    • Some things just pop into our heads. But there is some truth to it. Life is rarely what we think it will be, leaving us wondering what is next. An edge of the seat thing, life.
