Poem: Of Gateways and Walls

Of  Gateways and Walls

You sit at an anonymous table
alone in a room of familiar strangers,
while thoughts without form swirl around you
like madcap ghosts, half horror, half comedy,

vague and lacelike, formless,
not real, yet immensely powerful,
gatekeepers of your heartcastle, unsure
whether the enemy you guard against

is them, or you.
