Poem: Autumn Solstice

Autumn Solstice

The air has turned cool, on cue
as if some celestial conductor
has brought his baton down
in a might swoosh,

commanding the music
to dim, to grow suddenly soft –
weather in a minor key.
Leaves begin

their colorful death,
while millions watch in awe
at the beauty of life,
ending.

The picture was taken on the road to Rona’s house. That small stretch of road is one of the prettiest places I drive in all of Vermont. You can click on it for a larger version.

  1. Tom–Your mom just connected me with your site, your work, you. Love it! I love to use art and poetry in worship, and would love to think about projecting some of your photography and using some of your poetry (and probably other stuff) here. You open to that? (I always credit….)

    • Beth,

Anything you think will help you in worship, you can use. You can credit me if you like, but if the credit will interfere with the worshipfulness, particularly in things like pictures, I am OK if you don’t.

I have higher resolution versions of my photographs that will probably project better. If you need them, just ask and I will send them to you.

      Tom
