Poem: And Now….

And Now….

You are done, preparing for the storm.
The candles are close at hand.
There is extra water in the closet.
The furniture outside is battened down,

and now, you relax,
more in anticipation than worry,
knowing the truth,
that you have done what you can do.

The rest is outside your control,
a place once uncomfortable,
but now simply a part of your life,
an awareness that you control

nothing
except your own soul.
Only that,
nothing more.

And nothing more
is needed.

====================

No, the storm picture is not mine, but from the myriad of pictures of Hurricane Sandy that the National Weather Service has put out. Storms come in all flavors, in weather and in life, but today, this seemed more timely than anything I have in my archive of pictures.

Be safe my friends and readers. Your life is precious.

  1. Been working with my kids on that “God is in control, not us, message for 48 hours now.” Whew. Be well!

    • Beth – that’s so often a hard lesson to pass on to kids, who are used to seeing we adults as being “in control.”. But if ever there was a chance to teach the lesson, a time like this is a good one. Blessings!
