Poem: Easter Again

Easter Again

Here’s the thing. Easter
is a holiday not quite our own,
tacked on to Passover

so we don’t have to pick a day,
but admit that it’s a celebration
that defies time

as well as it defies death,
a miracle whose power
is far, far beyond history,

a joy that a single day can not hold,
that changes now,
Into eternity

for us all.

About this poem

After forty days of Lent, we celebrate. And after forty days of writing Lenten Poems, I felt compelled to write one for Easter too, to complete the cycle.

I hope your day is blessed, your heart lifted, and that love permeates all you touch, and all that touches you.

  1. I am convinced that we can have love in our lives and the world, now, without the need to look back or build a construct. But to be human is to do so. So it’s OK. Be well.
