You Have Seen Yourself
You have seen yourself
splashed about,
tossed in the wind
whether with malice or love,
into people’s minds and hearts,
wise and kind,
mindless and mean,
the lies, and worse,
the truths
under another name,
uncontrolled
because of your own stubborn insistence
at remaining innocent,
in believing in people,
in allowing yourself to be vulnerable
despite so much evidence,
so much history
reminding you
of your foolishness.
About this poem.
Just in case you are wondering. I probably won’t learn at this point. But that’s OK.
The picture was taken while at an auction in Townshend, VT.

Wonderful poem and wonderful reading!
Listening to you reading the poem really brought it to life!
Thanks Tom, you are an awesome poet!
Bless you, and thanks. I think poetry is meant to be heard as well as read. I just need to be more disciplined in doing it.
Nice 🙂
