The Ladder
The ladder hangs on the wall,
industrial, strong, firmly bolted, leading
up
or down,
depending on the beast you flee
or the treasures you seek.
About this poem
This was one of those “started long, ended short” poems, wherein it started with six stanzas, and ended with seven lines. I am not sure which one was better, to be honest, but this version got there clearer.
Tom

Today I’m going up looking for treasure!
Tomorrow we’ll see what happens.
I hope you find that treasure!
