Poem: The Places You Seek

walker

The Places You Seek

These are the places you seek,
the quiet places,
the places without voices,
without the railing and wailing
and artificial laughs that are not your own,
the places where other’s words
drift away with wind and tides
and you are left

with only yourself.

These are the places you seek,
where you are not fighting
to simply be heard, where your truth
is your own,
where there is no hate or purpose or selling,
only the voice of your whispering God,
and your own
in intimate conversation,
where there is time
to savor, to cry, to rant,
to release the pain without fear
of reprisal or recommendations,
to simply be what you are
in all its glorious weakness and magnificence.

These are the places you seek.

About this poem

There’s not much quiet in the world. Make your own.
