Poem: Lenten Love Stories

Lenten Love Stories

The pages are worn
where you and I have read them,
so often the words are printed more on our heart
than on the parchment pages.

A book of love stories.
Promises kept and promises made,
most of all the promise of love so patient
that it waits for me to become me again,

a holy, broken relic,
made worthy by no less
than your love
